I friggin' love The Crucible. Especially for this acting by DDL. Spoilers for a play that came out 70 years ago. https://youtu.be/gj635laKpY0

To Kill A Mockingbird is great.

Apocalypse Now is an amazing adaptation of Heart of Darkness.

Easy A is a fun retelling of The Scarlet Letter.

To Kill a Mockingbird is such a well-done, powerful movie that has really stood the test of time.

The 80s adaptations of the Anne of Green Gables series with Megan Followes, except for the 3rd movie.

The 1995 miniseries of Pride and Prejudice.

1995 P&P is best P&P. I say this as a complete lover of the book (I have like 4 copies). All of the actors just fit their roles perfectly IMO.

Yes to Anne. So much yes. I love those movies (except the third one, which wasn't an adaption at all).

I absolutely hate Hamlet as a character and think he's too whiny. But one of my favorite movies is the Indian adaptation of Hamlet, Haider, that's set in mid-1990s Kashmir. The political situation makes it so that the female characters have more autonomy - Ophelia is a journalist and has the ability to move more (literally and figuratively) than the male characters do. The way they handle the "ghost" of the king is also really interesting.

I like the Indian adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, Ram-Leela too. It's set in Rajasthan and the families are competing gun runners. Ram/Romeo runs a porn/adult store, and Leela/Juliet is next in line to take over as the godmother of the family. Leela's mother is a ferocious mob boss. The cinematography is beautiful, and the leads have lots of sexy chemistry.

Yeah, they're both fantastic films, but very different energies.

They're both available online with English subtitles:

The Little Women with Winona Rider. The Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea with Meghan Fallows.

I actually haven't seen a Macbeth adaption I haven't liked. There aren't that many, of course.

To Kill a Mockingbird.

The Moby Dick with Patrick Stewart. Also the Chrismas Carol with Stewart (and also the Muppet one).

the Poirot tv series with Suchet.

David Copperfield with Daniel Radcliff and Maggie Smith.
