I'm not sure how I feel about this. I love Mushu and I love the songs in Mulan, but I was also hoping for it to be a little more serious. Then again, I haven't liked any of the live-action Disney movies they've done (especially Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast), so maybe it'll be okay? I dunno.

There is apparently a somewhat recent Chinese version of Mulan which isn't related to the Disney version afaik and is a more serious take based on the original legend. Idk how easy it would be to get your hands on it but it's out there!

There are numerous Chinese versions of Mulan, especially right after the Disney came out. But I wouldn’t even know where to get my hands on one of them now, let alone a subbed version for non-Mandarin speakers.
