Uh, it's YA with typically simple answers to some complex questions, so it has to be judged by those standards.

I would love to read a more complex, grown up take one day though. Something that doesn't shy away from neither the moral dilemmas nor the baser instincts driving us.

"Are sociopaths bad people who shouldn't be rewarded for their manipulation of others" can be a complex question. The simple answer is yes. It sounds like this book fails on that front, and should be judged accordingly.
