I think OP is saying that older fandoms (be it meta posts or fic or whatever) are spoiler heavy with no warning because shit's old and they just assume that people looking for this fandom are up to date?

Close! Actually, I wouldn't read fic if I wasn't finished a show. For me, I like to go to a wiki page after every episode and read the trivia / behind the scenes section. Those don't usually come with spoilers, but every once in a while, a spoiler comes at you with a surprise attack. And that kind of sucks lol
