When people start discussing something you haven't finished watching or reading yet, that constitutes your spoiler warning. They start talking about TNG? Assume spoilers for TNG. They start talking about Buffy? Assume spoilers for Buffy.

Especially for long-running shows, the older it is, the harder it is to remember when certain things happened, so announcing spoilers for specific episodes, or even specific seasons, may require research before posting just to be able to provide that precise a warning. "Just tag for spoilers" is not actually a minimal effort of you are trying to accommodate people who want to join the fandom and discuss everything up to Season 4 episode 12 exactly, but not be spoiled for anything beyond that.

Also, if you don't want to be spoiled for Firefly, just watch it already. It's not like there's a lot of episodes.
