138. Word-sauce. I'm getting tired of the "this is racist/sexist." No. It's a story. If you're seeing these overtones where NO ONE ELSE IS, maybe it's your problem.

146. Lol. I can't help but like the fanfic in a sick, wacky way (though I've never read rape-fic, and don't think I could), I'm inclined to agree from a pragmatic sense. Just this morning, it occurred to me--people keep writing their OC's kissing the Joker. Lookit those teeth. When's the last time he brushed 'em? Bet he tastes like a sewer...
And after watching a couple of episodes of TAS today...well, look, if the Joker can not be turned on by cream-covered Harley Quinn doing a sexy dance and impersonating Marilyn Munroe, asking if he wants to try her "pie" and offering "seconds"...well, look, you/your OC ain't gonna do the trick either, sorry.

164. Heath and Nicholson were perfect interpretations of the Joker; Cillian's Scarecrow was spot-on. But I'll admit until the new movies came out, he was my favourite movie!villain.
But even then, your statement's a falicy, since his whole performance was like one big tribute to Gorshin.

Yes, if it's one person seeing it on the entire Internet, then it's probably just them.

But if a large number of women, or people or color, or homosexuals, or whoever, see something as insulting them for what they are? Maybe they know something you don't.

Well, as a woman, in my personal experience, almost every time I've seen someone cry SEXIST at anything I'm in the fandom for, it's been... well, more whining than anything else. Sheer forced victimhood or something. I can't figure out the words, except, well...it's like they're deliberate distorting things to make them more sexist. Sometimes it's things like "OMG, LOTR IS SO SO SEXIST!" which seems like it could be true until you take into account the kind of story it was immitating, then add the hardcoreness of Ewon and the strength of Galadrial, and realise that while there aren't oodles of women in the books, the ones there are not weak at all.

The stupidest example, and the one that came straight to mind was one person on the Fables messageboard trolling about how she found Fables demeaning to women because one character chose to retire after centuries of basically running an independant, underground country so she could raise her children (while still helping run a war, at that).

The secret provided no examples, so I only had my own experience to draw from, and my own experience has been, it's usually people who like to feel like a "victim" but aren't really. I recognise that this is not always the case, but I am so tired of dealing with the "Cry wolf" thing.
