Rolo gets a metric ton of hate. And who can forget everyone's favorite MALE punching bag, Suzaku?

Yes, but even at the most ridiculous height of the Suzaku-bashing, he still had a certain core of loyal fans who would defend him, or a few people who'd say "I hate him, but I hope he sees the error of his ways and reconciles with Lulu" or whatever. Nina never gets that, at least not that I've seen. Just "GRR WHY DOESN'T THAT DISGUSTING WHORE KILL HERSELF ALREADY." And Suzaku is one of the most prominent and pivotal characters in the series, so I can sort of understand why he would inspire very strong feelings in the fanbase. But with Nina I keep wondering, what did she even do, for people to hate her like that? @_@

And Rolo seems pretty popular in the main Code Geass lj comm. Certainly more popular than Nina -- most new episode discussions contain a few comments of "nuuu poor woobie Rolo I will cry my eyes out when he dies". I think Rolo and Nina are actually kinda similar in that both are extremely devoted to/obsessed with another character, which motivates them to some creepy behaviour and very bad choices. But Rolo has fans, Nina... doesn't.

As I said earlier, most of what we get from Nina are scenes of her being hateful or obsessive--sometimes both. I think this latest scene with her in episode 19 was a step in the right direction, but you have to remember that for a vast majority of the series the only scene she came across in as genuinely sympathetic was back in the very beginning of the first season when the terrorists had her in tears of fear.

I think the reason Rolo gets cut more slack is that he's not as "delusional" as Nina is, who never even really got a chance to know Euphie become she became completely obsessed with her. Rolo's obsession was at least based on a sense of personal worth he got from Lelouch, whereas Nina's was portrayed by the show as a creepy, hyper-sexual sort of prelude to stalking--no matter what the subtext to Rolo and Lelouch's relationship, at least we didn't see him masturbating into Lelouch's underwear or something along those lines.

Whether you think that is fair is something you'd have to take up with the writers, not the fans. Likewise, Suzaku's actions are to a degree defensible. It's hard to defend a character that wants to commit genocide for nebulous, undisclosed reasons of trauma, has no strong friendly ties with any of the cast any more, and engages in a creepy, one-sided relationship with someone who barely knows she existed. Motivation is everything. We know what makes Suzaku tick, there's only been bare hints of what makes Nina (mal)function the way she does.

So, in this case, I think accusing people of being homophobic and misogynistic is utterly uncalled for. There are certainly enough valid reasons to dislike Nina as a character, and I think there's enough hinted at that she could be "interesting". Doesn't mean people are obligated to like someone unpleasant.

For me, I'm meh on Nina and absolutely can't stand Rolo, but as far as her having "fans", I know she's one of my brother's favorite characters.

I didn't want to read your comment until just now because I hadn't watched ep. 19 yet. :/ Anyway, I thought Nina came across as pretty sympathetic in the scene where she was mourning Shirley and in a few other scenes as well. I don't feel it's accurate to say that we never see anything of her but hatefulness and creepiness. And again, prior to R2 ep... 13 or 14, pretty much all we ever saw of Orange was vengeful obsessiveness, and yet he wasn't bashed to such a degree.

Whether you think that is fair is something you'd have to take up with the writers, not the fans.
I have quite a few things I'd love to take up with the writers, but I don't think I'm wrong to complain about the fans if I feel they are judging the characters based on unfair double standards.

So, in this case, I think accusing people of being homophobic and misogynistic is utterly uncalled for.
I never accused anybody of anything. I only said I can't help but wonder if Nina would be hated as much if she were a boy. Unlike the secret poster, I definitely wouldn't label the Geass fandom as a whole as being misogynistic or homophobic (no more than any other anime fandom). But I've certainly considered the idea that ingrained sexist attitudes may be a factor in the massive amounts of Nina hate.

It's not like I love Nina or I think everyone should like her or nobody should hate her. It's just that character-bashing in general really annoys me, and in Nina's case it seems unusually excessive.
