Honestly, it’s not that different from what fandom did to George Lucas.

But for Pete's sake - it's entirely reasonable to dislike the prequels. They're not very good movies. People took it too far, nerds are performative weirdos always, but fandom didn't 'do' anything to George Lucas. What's this narrative. Where's it come from.

Yeah but you can hate the prequels without suggesting that George Lucas is a horrible person who abused everyone who worked for him. That they are bad movies doesn’t make him a bad person.

This. Like, the personal comments and attacks that are happening in the SW fandom simply aren't happening to Rowling, at least not other than small, isolated incidents. It is okay to disagree with her decisions.

I've loved the prequels more than the old ones, and so has every person from my generation who's seen them and isn't a hardcore nerd (btw I am a hardcore nerd, but I like what I like and give no fucks). I also understand some people may not like them. There's tons of stuff I don't like.

I DON'T understand heaping personal insults and hate on a guy just because he happened to make a thing I don't like.
