Ew, no.
Buffy/Spike's relationship has always been gross to me - and the apologist attitude of their fans, or their ship fans to that scene (and Spikes 'redemption' afterwards) has disturbed me.
I get your point, their relationship was screwed up from the get-go, and Buffy 'could have fought back', but no. The writers chose a gross way to present this, and deal with it later.

Op did not say that Buffy "could have fought back," though? OP said that they were in a kinky relationship where no didn't always mean no. Not at all the same thing.

If Buffy's no didn't always mean no (and I contest that) then all that means is that Spike NEVER TOOK HER 'NO' SERIOUSLY. He's a rapist.
