So, like, this whole argument is insanely dumb and stupid and exhausting on all sides, but. All the headline says is that the controversy was amplified. It doesn't say "everyone who disliked the movie was a bot". I'm sure some people interpreted it that way, and that does seem to be our level of understanding of bots generally, but it's not what it actually says.

It does kinda seem to imply that there are only a few haters (who are all whiny manbabies who can't possibly have any reasonable arguments for disliking the movie) whose opinions only got heard because bots amplified them.

That probably is what some people took from the story, certainly
