I used to really enjoy Sinfest. It was a fun, silly comic once upon a time. Now I'm only reading out of morbid fascination; to see just how much worse the comic can get. Will Tatsuya ever realize that he's basically mansplaining feminism? Will he ever spot the irony of pushing an anti-porn agenda through the use of highly-eroticized images of scantily-clad women in practically every other strip? Will he ever start listening to the actual sex workers who've stated that they're offended by his portrayal of them as being weak, fragile, innocent victims of the evil porn-zombie men (no, really) who need to be rescued like any other helpless little damsel in distress?
My guess is no, seeing as how he recently deleted the strip's original forum where readers posted dissenting opinions (which he'd then use as dialogue for the evil, evil porn-zombies) and now runs a forum exclusively for SWERFs & TERFs where absolutely no one is allowed to criticize or disagree with him...

Tl;dr: a once-great webcomic has turned into a complete trainwreck of incompetent radfem proselytizing and I know I should look away but I can't. It's awful, but fascinatingly so.

Please stop making feminism look bad, Tat.

*googles the term SWERF*
....ewwwww....

Yes, a group made up of many former sex workers who now have no financial ties to the industry speaking out about how horrible it is, so disgusting. They need to be shut up for being so anti-abuse.

Forgive me, I interpret it to mean "The voice of female sex workers is not welcome in MY brand of feminism".

Just like TERFs apparently don't feel like Transwomen have a voice in Feminism.

Am I wrong?

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
I’m a former sex worker, that’s why I am so against sex work. I know what the industry is like.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
And I know plenty of sex workers who'd disagree with you, so shove it.

I did admin stuff and cannot comment on behalf of anyone else but I think people mainly dislike broad and swiping statements because it simplifies any issue related to the industry plus robs people within of any agency. Never seen the term SWERF describing anyone criticising the market but mostly those who condemn those working within not the mechanics of it.

We've already argued about this but I just don't think that you can generalize as much as you're doing here.

Hasn't that dude been a doof for a long ass time

(Anonymous) 2018-10-12 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I was in that 'watching a trainwreck' mode for about a year? Maybe? But honestly it just got boring. Yes, yes, all sex-positive feminists are secretly horny dudes. Yes, all sex workers are tormented slaves. Yes, sure, any woman who disagrees is a brainwashed servant of The Patriarchy. Fine, people who like BDSM are literally devils.

Whatever, Tats.
Whatever.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-12 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
There's definitely women who enjoy sex work and aren't forced into it and they should by all means be supported, but ime sex-postive feminists are real quick to overlook the women who have no other option and the human trafficking involved in the industry.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Not really, they just don't think that's a justification for criminalizing sex work

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
AYRT - Right, 'cos it's so much easier for trafficked and abused women to get help from the police when they're living in fear of being locked up for being prostitutes. That makes perfect sense!

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Read my post again. That's not what I'm saying.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Having been a sex worker, I can you that these women either are saying that for the money or need therapy. It’s a very fake industry that sadly everyone believes.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad your experience is so universal.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
I was unhappy. All the sex workers I knew were equally unhappy. But hey, what do I know.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Spotted the radfem.

Shove it, SWERF, and go cool off and rearrange your priorities. You're disgusting.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, being anti-abuse is really a bad priority. What was I thinking!

I have never heard of this but it sounds like a dumpster fire.

The most unbelievable thing in this comic is beginning a porno(?) with the girl saying she's of legal age instead of beginning with some raunchy dialogue before the raunchy sex. (Disclaimer: at least I assume it's a porno).

I’ve said before that second-wave feminism was the worst thing possible for this author, because it perfectly fits all his personal weaknesses he likes to think are virtues. It’s like how John C. Wright, who always thought the only possible reason you could disagree with him was because you hadn’t read as many books as him, became so much worse when he became a Catholic and had the ultimate Book to bludgeon people with.

But! The puppvy versus kitty strips used to be so cute! I don't follow this anymore, but please please tell me he still does the puppy and kitty strips every once in awhile, too?
