Eh I wouldn't hold that against you, considering trans fanwork and cuntboy fanwork are completely different genres.

I don't think people who are into magical alien futa races or whatever are fetishizing mtf women either... unless they leave the realm of obvious fiction and start talking about or creeping on actual mtf women assuming they're the same or something. If it's obvious fiction and unrelated to reality, have fifteen dicks and four vaginas while looking like a giant caterpillar, who cares.

I find trans fanwork fetishizing actual trans people and trans angst more potentially offensive anyway

It's your life but I guess I am kinda curious why you feel that way

(Anonymous) 2018-10-14 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Not OP, but I imagine it's the same as a fic with a fictional character who is basically autistic but in a world where that's just how they are, vs. a fic with a character who is actually autistic and is dealing with RL issues related to their autism or where the fic touches on Autism as a topic.

Both have their place and can be good or bad, but they're not the same thing at all.

I think you can have a fic where you have a trans person being hot and you have it being smutty and have it just be that, and not directly deal with issues of identity or transness.

Obviously I don't mean that in any way to question or dismiss anyone's preferences, just talking about how it seems to me

In everything I've ever seen where a character is made to be trans by the author, it's always been about that, though.

I mean, sure, theoretically, you're right.

But in my experience it's always a focal point of the fic. Always. How hard life is, identity politics, etc.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-14 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Fair point.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-14 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Would you accept the opposite: you can have a fic where you have a cuntboy being hot and you have it being smutty and have it just be that, and not directly deal with issues of identity or their gender, and it works just as fine as having them be explicitly referred as transgender?

Ffs I have gone out od my way in every post to say that I'm not trying to dismiss anyone else's preferences.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-14 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. The idea of cuntboy scenarios is that you are dealing with a person who was assigned male at birth and socialised as male throughout their life. They just happen to have a vagina instead of a cock (or both). I've never read a trans fic like this.

No strong opinions on the secret, but I love the background image.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-14 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Cuntboys, eh? Wow, today I learned!

(Anonymous) 2018-10-14 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I love love love this trope but I hate the name so much.

Loki is my go-to in this situation because it's so rare in every other fandom.

Hey, me too, OP! It's too bad most fics involving often ends up having the most stereotypically uke character be one, while I want muscular and masculine ones.

There was some non-con Sentinel sci-fi fic where Jim had a vagina as well as a cock...and his vaginal slit didn't become active at all until he had his alien mate penetrated him. The concept of the vaginal slit on Jim was incredibly hot to me, the non-con not so much, but then Jim tears the alien's throat out so that was satisfying. But I took the fap content of Jim's alien vagina to the bunk for a long time.

Yaaaaaaassss

You are not alone in this at all.

I read a book like that albeit it had exactly one porn scene and was not a good book overall (was meant to be about politics but no one did any politics). I'd pretty much love any none-standard bodied gay stuff without context but 'cuntboys' read same as 'shemales' are as blah to me written as if they were appearing in porn (they have precisely the same connotations for me as trans exploitation porn) (I rarely watch any straight or lesbian porn so maybe the whole 'shemale' category got less enraging). Sure, people who do porn sometimes fancy those terms, still - not my thing.

Thank you for this very important message.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-15 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
I'm trying to figure out what cuntboy is supposed to mean without being transgender and not to be rude or anything but I'm just still so confused.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-15 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Naw, I totally get what you mean. In my personal opinion, I just don't do well with fics that have trans guys in them even though I'm a trans guy myself. I end up feeling... well. It triggers my dysphoria for some odd reason. I honestly can't explain it. But if it's Just The Way Things Are, I'm completely fine with it. I'm also very comfortable with mpreg and/or dual-sexed males. But if there is any inkling of them being trans I end up NOPE-ing really, really hard. I'm sure there's some sort of internalized transphobia going on, but I just choose not to consume the content and find something that works for me.

After a while, I ended up in the Transformers fandom and that pretty much worked out great for me. I moved on to more sci-fi stuff with aliens and robots and alien robots and whatnot, and then I dipped my toe in omegaverse and that's pretty much it for where I end up getting the most of my c-boy and/or more content.
