I thought his pants were grey...

Me too. While I can see that they are using a purple shade, my brain translated it to grey pants when looking at the ensemble as a whole. I had to look again when OP referenced "purple" pants.

the fashion was some of the best part of the show. I adore how of the time it is! Clothes that age well are cool but I love glaringly obvious 'products of the current trend' looks just as much if not more.

I love the nineties clothes in Sailor Moon in all their fugliness, but I swear some of that stuff is coming back in style and I have no idea why.

I suspect whoever makes this stuff up ran out of ideas so they just crank out clothes that were popular at least 20 years ago.

I'm currently revisiting Ally McBeal and the nineties nostalgia is a big draw, tbh.

SM was the one classic I never saw thanks to living in the wrong parts of the world, but it's low-key been on my to-watch list for a decade and why lie: The nineties style might be a draw I hadn't considered, haha. (OT, is there such a list of which episodes are filler and which ones are plot?)

Here you go. You'll have to scroll down a bit as there's a wordy intro.

Bless you, that was exactly was I needed, "technically fillers but with important character moments" listed and all ♥

Some stuff is truly amazing and some stuff is truly amazingly terrible, but the thing I will always give props to the original anime about is that the girls had distinct outfits in their own styles and they rotated through them. And I would argue that some outfits were definitely made of pieces borrowed from each others' wardrobes as time progressed.

I really like that they did that. Some shows get really lazy and only have their characters in school uniforms or whatever, so it was nice to see the girls in different outfits.
