Fucking signed, I just don't get it. I like the guy characters for the personality I come to know them with and if they were efeminate to begin with then maybe it wouldn't bother me as much, but when you take a really masculine guy and dress him up in a wedding dress or lingerie, I feel like I'm looking at someone's woobificatoon fantasy rather than the character themselves enjoying something that seems completely ooc to me. It entirely takes me out of it.

Give me guys being affectionate or vulnerable and women being tough, give me them trying new things even, but don't make them a caricature of themselves. If your two dudes are in love one of them doesn't have to become the 'wife' unless he's into that, but I'm sure not.

Obviously, your preferences are your preferences. But I don't think it makes them a caricature of themselves, or a wooby fantasy. It's adding on to what's already there, and often the tension between those seemingly disparate elements is what makes it work for people in the first place.

The appeal of putting manly dudes in lingerie is that they're still manly and there's a contrast between them and their clothing, though. It's not about making them effeminate.

Is it about wokeness or is it just about people being into something you're not? Which I get being annoying, it's a weirdly aggravating thing

(Anonymous) 2018-10-15 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think being "woke" means that at all, or at least, it shouldn't. And I can guarantee you that you're not the only one who's pretending. If more people were brave enough to say, "nah, I'm not into that but you guys have fun", then it'd probably be accepted.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-15 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
It blows my mind that anyone would be this desperate to be perceived as "woke."

Yeah, I am not into feminization at all. Then again, in fic it is often combined with humiliation.

People in fandom were into crossdressing and dudes wearing panties before anyone knew what being woke is. Just do whatever people do to block shit on tumblr and move on.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-15 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I don’t mind it, but it’s definitely not a kink of mine.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-15 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Woke... I don't give a damn about the latest hype, but you would probably feel better about yourself if you started being honest with your friends. If they are your friends at all, if they can't deal with your kinks and squicks?

That aside, skimpy lingerie tend to accent buff male physique in a very attention drawing way. Women in lingerie does nothing for me, but a manly man? Get out!

I mean, I just like seeing some dudes in lingerie and dresses, I don't really care about being "woke" or some shit. Is it honestly so hard to just be like "eh, I'm not really into this, I'd rather you not keep showing me"?

It's not really my thing either, I'm sure there's fic where it's done in a way that I'd like but most of the time I give it a pass and move along.

And there's nothing 'woke' about sexual fantasies of preferences, it's either something you like or don't.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-16 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Dudes in lingerie or dresses isn't my thing either. Nothing wrong with liking it, of course, it just doesn't do it for me. I don't think being woke has anything to do with that particular kink 'cause it's been around for a really long time.

It would not be "woke" to say men should never wear lingerie. There's nothing wrong with just not wanting to look at pictures of it. I'd much rather look at women in lingerie personally and I don't feel bad about it.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-16 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Dudes in lingerie seems more like a fetish. My fetish to be exact, but a fetish. I'm aware enough to not try and pretend liking a man in a corset and thigh highs is any more high brow than liking a woman in a corset and thigh highs.

[personal profile] tabaqui 2018-10-16 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
....well, no. I don't think 'this' is what being 'woke' is about. I happen to *love* a guy in a pair of lacy undies or a gorgeous satin corset.

And then a pair of ratty jeans, biker boots, and a Henley on top.
*shrug*

If you don't like it, then block it, whatever - there's no reason to pretend, it's really just not that important.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-16 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
I like seeing feminine looking guys in lingerie and dresses even if it's OOC for their personality. It's not exactly a kink but it's not a woke thing either, I just like the aesthetic. I don't like the aesthetic of buff guys dressed that way though, so I agree with you there and I understand why you'd hesitate to tell your friends. They might not interested just for woke points, but an aversion to it would probably get you questioned as closed minded.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-16 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Just block and scroll, nonnie, block and scroll. Men in lingerie or other feminine clothing does nothing for me, but I've never seen people promoting it as "woke" rather than "hot"!

(Anonymous) 2018-10-16 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
It's not my thing either. I don't hate it, but it's not a turn on for me.

Funny thing is, in the rare cases where I've been even kiiind of into it, it's always been feminine clothes on already effeminate men. Which, I mean, if some misguided fifteen-year-old fandom SJW was so inclined, they could make an argument that that's worse than just not liking it at all. But bottom line? I just don't care. I like what I like, and it's fiction.

That's....NOT really what being woke means, friend. You can just tell your friends "I just don't have a thing for dudes in lingerie. They're free to wear it, but it does nothing for me, so the art (though it's nice art) just isn't really one of my turn-ons" and let that be it. If they really are your friends they'll accept this. You're talking about kinks here, in the end, not saying "men should NEVER wear lingerie because it's for girls", dyou know what I mean?

(Anonymous) 2018-10-16 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
that's odd, most fandoms I run in openly despise putting gay or feminine male characters in feminine clothing because it's seen as fujos "fetishizing" and "heteronormatizing" gay men. It's especially frowned upon if the smaller half of the m/m ship is drawn or written as a crossdresser.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-16 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
putting men in frilly dresses and lingerie has been a thing for at least a decade. i remember seeing it all the time when i first got into fandom 10 years ago.

that said, after you've seen it once it gets really old really fast, at least in my experience. by this time i'm just sick of seeing it. it's like reliving my teenage years and i don't want any part of it.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-16 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Lots of people giving you shit for this. Frankly, I get where you're coming from op. It doesn’t matter if this is a matter of personal preference, this is exactly the kind of shit people have been flamed and doxxed for on Tumblr. Better to hold your silence I think and try and ignore it.
