To clear up confusion: the girl (Fred) in the first scene has her soul destroyed by an ancient god, and in the second, Dean goes to hell after making a deal with a demon.

But, I mean... From a classical Christian perspective, if you make a deal with the devil, doesn't that intrinsically mean that you deserve to go to hell

To be fair, he only made the deal to save his brother's life. Also he was basically manipulated into it anyways because heaven and hell both needed him to go to hell for reasons.

Right, but he also needed to be taken out again for the whole plan to work, so "eternal damnation" was never in the cards for him anyway.
