Re: What things do you wish were legal/illegal

Yes, I'm not sure how I feel about recreational use of marijuana, but then again, I'm not sure how I feel about heavy alcohol use. But it absolutely has medical uses. As someone with chronic pain that nothing seems to help, I'd really love to try marijuana to see if it would help.

And I agree with you that alcohol ads should have warnings too. Maybe not exactly the same because moderate drinking doesn't hurt as long as you don't drive drunk whereas one cigarette can hurt your lungs. But more warnings would be good.

Medicinal marijuana often has different properties than recreational marijuana, as in it doesn't get the user high/not as much as recreational varieties do. So that's another plus.

I recently read there have been new studies that actually suggest that every sip of alcohol can already be harmful so... eh.

Puritan claptrap that ignores how alcohol helps prevent dementia, among other things. Moderate alcohol users always live longer in studies than teetotalers. Most studies show heavy users live longer than teetotalers so the smug non-drinkers are still going to die before most drinkers and their later years ruined by dementia anyway. But sure, One Sip of Wine Will Give You Cancer!!!

You sound overly touchy on the subject of alcohol consumption. Makes you wonder.

I am highly skeptical of those studies and strongly suspect that there's some kind of confounding factor thingy going on
