I honestly wouldn't be surprised if all the Netflix Marvel shows end up cancelled by the end of the year, this is feeling like Netflix are cleaning house of their Disney-owned products because of Disney starting up a competitive service.

I could be wrong ofc, but it just feels this way to me.

Believe me, Netflix isn't the one cleaning house.

I figured it was the both of them in their own way, neither really wanting to play ball with the other anymore.

But I can totally see Disney being massive dicks about this on their own, they didn't get where they are by being nice after all.

I feel like Netflix needs Disney infinitely more than Disney needs Netflix, but at the same time, Netflix is probably capable of seeing the writing on the wall. And there's not much point at sticking with a deal when you know it's just going to end with you being stabbed in the back. Much like the deal between Lando and Vader in Empire Strikes Back, a Star Wars film brought to you by your friends at Disney.

Disney didn't bring The Empire Strikes Back to us, they just own it now.

Nooooooo. I really don't want Jessica Jones cancelled. Luke Cage is bad enough. Don't care too much about the others. But JJ is really, really good.

Like I said I could be wrong, happy to be proven otherwise. But it really looks like the beginning of cleaning house honestly, whoever it at the helm of it.

Yes, I'm afraid you're right with the clarification that it's Disney doing this, not Netflix. I don't think those series will benefit from being on a Disney-only streaming service, IMO.

I'd honestly be surprised if those R-rated shows made it onto that service tbh. Of if they did they'd have to heavily tone them down to a PG-13 rating.

I did see a nonnie above suggest that Disney could do their version of Heroes for Hire, and I could see that being a thing maybe. Or Daughters of the Dragon. But they could also just be getting rid of all of it, salt and burn the earth and all.

Looks like DD and JJ are safe.

"Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos suggested in a blunt, brief and clear comment. Per Inverse, Sarandos said, “Those shows are for us to cancel and we’re super happy with their performance so far.”"

"whether or not they can create new shows about new Marvel heroes, it’s their prerogative how long they want to keep their existing titles on the air."

Yup. It sounds like there was some conflict over the writing/plot of LC series 3, and they just decided to scrap that. JJ and DD are safe, though.
