She's a celebrity with a lot of money so it doesn't really apply here, but the idea that someone's access to money and basic needs can be at the whims of mob justice is terrifying. Doubly with how easy it falsify and misconstruct information now.

I agree, partially. But in her case, her racism was a public act and not just a matter of taking the word of someone else. She tweeted something extremely racist. Her case is clear cut.

I agree. Capitalism is bad.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no! Actions have consequences! Specifically, actions that you've previously gotten in trouble for, been warned about, and decide repeat loudly and obnoxiously in public until no one can ignore them anymore have consequences!!

The. Horror.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-22 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Lmao, this so much.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-22 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
These snowflakes on the right need to stop whining and acting like victims and learn to take some personal responsibility, if you ask me.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
TBH as someone she hates and kinda wants dead, she can kiss my ass over this. It's not about mob justice, unless you think Neo-Nazis who literally advocate genocide of non-whites shouldn't be fired, too.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Everyone deserves access to basic needs.

Yes, they do. But not everyone deserves to be on tv or to be a celebrity or to have a public platform. She has plenty of money. No one is denying her basic needs.

This!

Smoke a joint outside the police station. You'll get all your basic needs met in jail.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
People lacking access to basic needs is in no way the fault of people (justifiably) yelling at them for doing stupid, awful things. It is a completely bizarre and insupportable idea to blame them for it. It's nonsense, utter nonsense.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
She can rot for all I care. She's a celebrity right now and rich as all hell. She either needs to get down on my level and realize what the masses actually go through before she's disdainful of us, or she can shut the fuck up with her bigotry.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
And if no longer being the headliner of a tv show somehow stripped her of the ability to 1) meet her basic needs and 2) get literally any other job that might allow her to meet her basic needs, you might have a point.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
She loves Trump, she's a privileged asshole who thinks that Republicans just want to keep immigrant families together and it's the mean ol' Democrats who are keeping them apart, she buys into the anti-Clinton conspiracy theories, insists what got her booted was "just a joke" and continues blaming everyone but herself.

Not being a fucking celebrity is not denying her access to basic needs.

Are you trolling or something?

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh noooo, the poor racist, sexist, homophobic bigot lost her job. :c Poor bigot getting fired for her own actions. She's just like those homosexuals who get fired because they have same sex partners! Or those people who get fired for not being white! Boo hoo hoo!

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Ordinarily I'd agree, but her case isn't one of those awful misunderstandings that blew out of control. She's been very vocal and unapologetic about her racist, bigoted views that she chose to air repeatedly and publicly. Losing a good gig is the natural outcome of the decisions she made, not some unforeseen tragedy visited upon her by the angry mob.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Can you name anyone whose access to money and basic needs was at the whim of mob justice on Twitter? Based on something they themselves tweeted? It seems to be all celebrities (plus Jared Padalecki trying and failing to get people fired for not catering to his ego).

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
What's this about Jared trying and failing to get someone fired? I have been away from SPN for so long, so I haven't heard about this, and thus far my Google-fu is failing me. Deets, please!

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
SA - oh, never mind, I finally found it at http://i.imgur.com/qkohZk4h.jpg. Not cool, Jared.

and also this from a few years ago: https://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/102952783.html

(posting a server's face, initials, and place of employment while vagueing about the particulars of how, exactly, they wronged you)

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Justine Sacco is the most prominent case that comes to mind.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Justine Sacco, the poor soul who's now been reduced to begging for scraps of food in the streets and making ends meet as a *checks notes* VP of corporate communications at the largest Internet dating company

No one is entitled to a job. I have more concern over the dozens of people who she nearly put out of a job, frankly. And I think bringing up completely irrelevant "false" accusations in this context makes no sense, and further invalidates any point you might actually have.
