I'm female and a POC and I use "ethnic" as a descriptor. I'm not sure it's the big red flag you seem to be implying it is.

LOL for assuming I'm black because I said "POC". I'm Chinese. And the word really, really isn't as inflammatory as you're trying desperately to make it out to be, for some reason.

I don't think it's like... "I can use the N word because it's in that song lyric!" red flag level, but the only people I've seem to use the word ethnic as a descriptor seem like the kind of people who say things like, "You know, the Oriental woman!"

Interesting. IME as a POC, people who use terms like "oriental" to describe people generally fail to grasp what "ethnic" even means, much less use it.
