I started working at a pet store at the end of August and for the most part I've been loving it. But a couple weeks ago someone left and I was just kind of thrown into my new role as the main person taking care of the animals in the morning, and the training has been very half-assed and frustrating. I'm almost never told everything I should know upfront. One minor example: My shift manager says "It's Wednesday so that means the chinchilla gets a dust bath" and then on Friday the other shift manager asks if the chinchilla had his dust bath because that's also done on Monday and Friday but that was never mentioned when the subject came up before.

But I get to pet dogs every day so it's hard to get too annoyed.

:*) But "have to give chinchilla more dust baths" sounds like such a great work problem to have.

It sounds pretty great when you put it like that. I just wish people would tell me everything I need to do instead of bringing it up for the first time when asking why it hasn't been done.
