Obesity isn't genetic. Lifestyle, on the other hand, is.

Except... genetics do play a role in obesity? It's not usually the sole contributing factor, but to say it doesn't at all is a lie.

This. There are so many things that play a role. It is not really cut and dry. Medication can cause weight gain. Mental illness can cause weight gain. Some physical ailments cause weight gain. And yes, genetics can play a part.

They have to eat other writers to take their creativity and make it their own. So, if they're in America, we're already a fluffy country, so the cannibalizing of persons with more than average amounts of subcutaneous fat compared to the global population combined with a sedentary profession equals a group of people who are generally more overweight.

What data are you looking at? If it's American or British authors, probably because most Americans and Brits are overweight these days regardless of whether or not they are authors.

I admit, I have thought something like this before. In my case, it's usually when I see a picture of an author for the first time. I'm always surprised if they're overweight, and then it's like, "Hmmm, this seems to happen a lot."
