I've never hidden being a fannish geek who has gone to cons and done cosplay (no time or money for it right now) and talked about fannish stuff online from someone I was dating... but I've never told a partner about reading fanfic, especially slash. I haven't been in a relationship where I felt this was for the long haul and should put everything on the table, though.
