I'm kind of the same. When a ship I dislike is popular, it often makes me dislike it more. When I was in the Potter fandom, my two biggest NOTPs were Ron/Hermione and Remus/Sirius simply because of how popular they were, even though I thought some other ships were actually worse.

I was never in Potter fandom, but I swear to god I shipped Harry/Hermione out of utter spite because I hated the way Ron/Hermione was pushed in the books.

Meanwhile, a lot of people in the fandom shipped Ron/Hermione out of spite because the Harry/Hermione shippers were so adamant that anyone who couldn't see that Harry/Hermione was endgame was an idiot.

Oh God I remember those shipping wars/forums. Really the whole fandom was batshit when it came to shipping.
