it's the weekend, so check first if the shelter is even open, but I would get him there ASAP. we've picked up strays frequently and have to immediately take them to the shelter because our cats are territorial, and they told us that if it was 2am on a Saturday we'd be kind of stuck with the stray overnight because not even animal control is available to come get anything.

the shelter has the resources to locate owners, scan for microchips, and generally take care of him, that's what they do. but good on you for taking care of a boy who might be lost. even if he's not, the shelter is equipped to do all the searching with minimal stress to the cat.
