I don't think it's the writers screwing up necessarily, but yes, it's a dynamic change, and it's one that I really don't like. Because instead of the dynamic between character A and character B, we now have the dynamic of character couple A & B.

And that's something very different. Even more so when the writer make it into the dynamic between characters AB vs the rest of the cast. At that point, yes, I do think of it as screwing up.
