I've come to a point in my life where I don't bother shipping couples unless they are or *obviously* will become canon. I get far more enjoyment out of extending and reinterpreting canon than making shit up. I don't always want to be the creator of happy endings and loving relationships. I want to see them created for me as well, and not just by other fans.

And yeah, I'm tired of show writers not taking responsibility for their own failure to write interesting dynamics within a relationship. Amateurs writing for fun online can do it. They can too.
