I have no idea why Seinfeld is so whiny about ~PC culture ruining comedy~, he's never pushed the envelope and his comedy has always been "family friendly" for lack of a better word (he's always refused to work blue/use swear words).

Sweating bullets about people remembering that time when he was 38 and dating a high schooler

I only vaguely know about that because MST3K referenced it a couple times.

Probably because he comes from a time when it was permissible (if unoriginal) to make jokes involving stereotypes about women and he feels threatened that now people are less amused by that than they were when he was young.

Ayart

Ahh, that makes sense, but even his stereotypical jokes were tame, so I still don't really get it. I do know he was saying that he doesn't do performances at colleges anymore because of ~PC culture~ but I'd say it's probably closer to the truth that he can't sell out those venues or even put a dent in them ticket sales wise. Pretty much every college-age kid I know thinks he's overrated/just plain not funny.

Haha, he walked that remark about college venues waaaaay back in a recent interview. I'm inclined to agree with you. I don't think Seinfeld was ever that funny, but then I'm not familiar with his stand up work so I don't know how much of it would be considered problematic. Like you, I'd think it'd be more a case of college age kids thinking his humor is dated and not particularly funny.

Am college-age kid, can verify. Also, he's just not very well-known among my schoolmates. His humor is outdated, and if anyone recognizes him (most don't), it's from "that TV show my parents watch", which is never a good sign popularity-wise.

He's a dinosaur. He's friends with Jay Leno. He's got his and it's worked out very well for him. Naturally he'd be bothered by what worked for so long not really working the same way anymore.

he's an old, incredibly rich white dude who's not especially smart or politically inclined so it's about par for the course
