haaaaaaaaa

I feel that very, very much OP

(Anonymous) 2018-10-30 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG I'm not the only person who feels that way?

(Anonymous) 2018-10-30 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I have yet to admit to anyone in real life that I'm attracted to any celebrity, ever. I just can't do it. My sister will be like 'hey, [actor I also like] is hot' and my mouth just replies 'eh s/he's just human looking' automatically.

omg i though that was just me!

I actually love crushing on TV people. Crushing is such a fun activity. You know, daydreaming about said person, looking forward to seeing them on TV, making GIFs of them. I don't care if people think I'm sad. I am. I'm a massive sad cunt.

I know! They're so much better-looking than the rest of us most of the time.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-31 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's fun, too :). You can have the fantasy without all the real world messiness involved :p.

I get where it can feel a bit awkward for others, though, yeah.

For a minute there, I skipped the "TV people" and only read "crushing". I was gonna say that is very much NOT fun. Esp. when it's unrequited. TV People being the exception of course, because you know from the get go it's never gonna happen and that's okay.

And I don't think it's sad!

Yes! A friend and I always say the myth is greater than the truth when it comes to celebrity crushes.

My new thing is being constantly surprised that actors I find attractive are like... my age. Like Tom Hiddleston and Chris Evans are only two years older than me, but in my head they're adults and I'm not. It's weird.

I feel a little embarrased too, OP. I guess as an adult woman, I have this odd idea that I should stop crushing on celebrities, and that only teenagers do it. Of course, this idea is wrong. People of all ages have always and always will crush on celebrities, regardless of if they're single or in a relationship. But it doesn't stop me feeling it, or thinking people think I'm immature as a result. (Again every person I know has some celebrity they crush on).
I once had a friend say to me that us both crushing on actors was proof that we were 'immature', arguing if we should be looking for a real boyfriend. I replied I would be happy to be in a relationship, if I could find a man!
My last partner I was crazy in love with (it didn't end well but that's another story) but I still crushed on Noel Fielding.

I was surprised my last celebrity crush was close to my age. I swore he was must have been younger by a decade. Not sure what that says about me.

DA

Heh, I can sympathize with that feeling of surprise. I keep crushing on celebrities who are at least 10, 15, 20 years older than me-that's been a pattern with me since I was in my teens (I'm in my early 30s now). So I too am a little shocked when I do manage to crush on a celebrity that's much closer to or about my age :p.

I have a hard time admitting my celebrity crushes, unless someone else says "I have such a crush on X!" and then I can admit I do to.

I think that growing up I knew that the girls who shouted from the rooftops about their crushes on boy band members and other teen idols got a lot of eyerolls from adults, and also they always seemed to be the kind of non-dorky, cool girls I couldn't manage to be. To set myself apart, I pretended to be "above" all that. Even though my crushes now are a matter of perfectly normal adult attraction and I don't get all squeal-ly and put up posters in my bedroom that I kiss goodnight, I still feel like admitting a celebrity crush is like saying "I'm a teenager screaming at a kid in a boy band."
