R-rated? For what? Does violence get movies R-ratings?

The series had a lot of violence, and I think it was more mature than many pieces of media with similar "kids with superpowers" plots because the author seemed to be trying to be realistic about how a group of kids would be affected by having to fight some new unknown menace alone. I'm not sure it would be R-rated, though, since there wasn't any sex, plus the main characters weren't old enough to go to an R-rated movie (though they could easily sneak in as flies or something, if they wanted).

Even when both people are written as asexual?

...I actually don't know if I'll be okay with both people in a relationship are asexual, because I'm not sure I've seen one. But one side being asexual makes me uncomfortable, and I think it's because it hits too close to home? Dunno. So, for the most part, I'm in the same camp. And I have no idea why either.
