I remember reading a lot of that ship in the heyday of Voyager and I never, ever really understood it. I never saw any sort of chemistry between the characters at all, and yet it was the most popular ship. *shrugs*

Maybe people who watched the pilot and nothing else? Because there was some hints of rivalry going on there, but then they basically dropped that.

I was/am a huge Chakotay/Tom shipper and I watched more than the first episode. I watched several seasons and I continued to ship them throughout, and I still do. It has nothing to do with their rivalry.
