I just read the latest Dresden Files short story collection, but between the main series serious grimdark infestation and what I hope is not but fear is Butcher’s obsession with guns, boobs, and honorable killers, since it shows up even in stories where Harry’s not the viewpoint charcter, I couldn’t enjoy it as much as I’d like. I can see why the Puppies nominated his stuff, even though I still like the earlier books.

This will make a great secret, thanks!

What you say is has some truth to it, but honestly I think a big part of that was that the Puppies wanted to be seen as a force that could influence the Hugos. They embarrassed the shit out of themselves by nominating their own (mediocre, less popular) books the previous year, so they wanted to nominate some big name popular authors both so they could point at them and say, "See? This is what we mean by good sci-fi/fantasy with lots of action and adventure no icky lady-feelings!" and because they knew someone like Butcher was a bestseller and kind of a ringer... unlike their previous nominees.

It was ridiculous and pathetic, but that's the Puppies for ya.
