The books that Game of Thrones is based on.

Mother of god that is some awful writing. I read one on a long train trip and I was laughing so hard at the sex scenes that tears were coming out of my eyes.

Why the fuck did they publish that? Has it been edited? If so, how much worse could it have been before?

So many questions.

GRRM is literally the only author whose writing was so tedious that it legit made me angry. Because there was such a good story that was just... nearly impossible to appreciate due to the writing. God, I'm getting mad again just thinking about it.

I actually think the show was sillier than the books in terms of gratuitous sexuality?

When I say tedious, what I mean is that I really didn't want twenty more pages describing decor or food or those 150 various members of nobility who I have no context for or interest in, along with what they're wearing and what their horses look like and who their servants are and oh god just kill me now.

Ooh. I'd nearly forgotten that. What do you mean you don't want to know about all the made up styles of tit showing dresses and the excessive consumption of roast beasty thing that so and so killed?

I think my highlight of horror was that the entire thing was written in alternating POVs. If it's possible to do an already bad thing badder he did it. GRRM writing from the POV of a teen girl is... well it's something.

This. I'm not saying the books were great or the sex scenes were awesome, but I'm baffled when people say they were sillier than the show. Like... did they see the show?
