Re: How should I get more light in my room?

I read somewhere that it's good to have three different sources of illumination in a room, whether it's a combination of windows, lamps, etc. Obviously in different places. Before investing in an expensive SAD lamp, definitely try a few options like:

* plastic window kit sheeting on the window to allow light in, but keep drafts out

* electric heater - I have a Vornado brand one that's very effective and fairly quiet. Also can double as a white noise machine if that helps.

* heavier blankets for the bed - maybe a down alternative duvet, flannel sheets, etc.

* Try one of those tall stand lamps with multiple bulbs that can point in different directions. If your room is small, you may only need one. They're great at casting indirect light upwards and reflecting it off of walls so it's illuminated without being glaring.

My room is fairly small. I might be able to get one those tall lamps and put full spectrum bulms in it. Then I can get a plant!

Fortunately, my windows don't have drafts. They are fairly new and double paned. So that is one bonus.

I should invest in a new duvet. Or maybe one of those warming blankets.

Plants definitely make a room more homey! I have similar issues when the days get shorter and colder. It helps a lot to make one's bedroom a cozy sanctuary. I'm not really much of a decorator, so it's a challenge.

Sherpa lined throws are awesome. Even piling on blankets and having multiple layers feels really good on cold nights, IMO - the weight is soothing as well as the warmth.

I am hoping to get some shelves made eventually. Right now, I am short on shelf space so a lot of my knick knacks are still boxed. :(

I thought about even getting a snuggy for when I am lounging around! I think they make like heavier ones.
