Yeah. It's so hyped up that it's bizarre. It starts as standard escapist rape-but-he-really-did-it-out-of-love, but then the author fell in love with her story's success and started beliveing it genuinely is the best thing since slized bread and it all went south fast. And then it went on and on and on...

Are you thinking of the right story? This one didn't have "rape out of love" at all..

I feel like I read a VERY different story than what you guys are talking about, because while there was rape and shit going down, I don't recall either one of the MCs raping each other. And they didn't even fuck until the third book??? Like???? Que??

I think you mean the second book. But yeah, I don't think it should be overlooked that Laurent subjects Damen to multiple traumatic circumstances but this is at a time when he is revolted by Damen for what turns out to be very understandable reasons and none of it is brushed aside like it was not terrible treatment. "Rape as love" has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Ooh, yeah, it was the second book. But yeah, I can only really think that the shit Damen was put through was terrible but like... there were actual horrible occurrences of rape that was NOT dressed up as titillating in any sort of way, but they were all background and, like you said, had absolutely nothing to do with love.

I read two books ages ago (first was published then) and ... absolutely no idea here anon. It's just a cheesy fantasy flick - not the worst one ever, it is ... decent as any similar book.

There is loads of rape in the background as story centres around well ... a prince forced into slavery by treacherous family. Just not in connection to main romance (at least was not in the first two).
