This. There is a difference.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-08 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Media exists in order to sell you things. Therefore you cannot sexualize actors without objectifying them.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-08 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, there's some truth to that - to the extent that capitalist economic relations intrinsically involve some degree of objectification / alienation.

But, first, sexual objectification and economic objectification are different things. Second, we all live in a society primarily governed by capitalist economic relations in most or all aspects of life. Objectification and alienation are inevitable outcomes of that system, things that we can't avoid. But we can still talk in terms of having more or less agency and choice within that system. And in the same way, there's still a meaningful distinction that you can draw between objectification and sexualization.

OMG that pic is so cute.

Male butts and genitals don't do much for me. I much prefer female boobs and butts. I do like naked, sweaty, well-muscled male torsos, though.

But yeah, if a scene gives me a clothed woman and a naked man butt, I'm probably just gonna cringe/laugh.

And I'm all about butts, all butts, regarless of gender. And backs. And the connection of butts and backs. Just, back views are nice. Penises are a little more hot to me than vaginas, but boobs are hotter than male chests.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-08 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm, give me a nice back over any part of a body any day of the week.

So you're saying you like big butts (and you cannot lie)?

There are only two options - sexualize women less or sexualize men more. I know which one I think will to do more to advance equality.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-08 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Why are there only two options?

(Anonymous) 2018-11-08 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
What are some other options?

If it was up to my sorry asexual ass, we'd stop sexualising people alltogether because it gives me the worst secondhand embarassement and honestly makes me feel uncomfortable whatever the gender of the ones involved.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-08 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
As an asexual person myself, I say let people have their eye candy dude.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-08 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'm ace, but I am still capable of appreciating hot people - especially fictional hot people. Like, I don't want to bone them, but I can still appreciate their fineness in a way that's only slightly more removed. And if two characters are hot and are attracted to each other, then that can definitely be hot to me, if I like the characters.

Also, I'm with the ace anon above me. Let the people have their eye candy. I sympathize with you; it's never fun when you feel shut out of something everybody else can't stop raving about ad infinitum. And I'm sorry if you've been made to feel like you're doing it wrong for not enjoying Hot People Being Hot. You're not doing it wrong. But neither are all the people who do enjoy Hot People Being Hot.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-11 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed, I'm ace. It pisses me off when Sex is the One True Meaning of Love. But I still find people attractive. Not 6 packs or 8 packs but pecs, sure. Long hair. Occasionally, super occasionally, female cleavage. Eyes, smiles. And sometimes male butts. Doesn't have to be sexual because nudity isn't inherently sexual. But butts can be super cute!

(Anonymous) 2018-11-08 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
I'm an equal-opportunity butt person myself.

Hahahahahaha

Personally I can appreciate a good clothed butt in some nice suit or jeans.

Sexualize everyone (of legal age.) I'm sick of this anti-sex fervor that's pushing forward. Some of us (a lot of us) are HORNY. We want sex and sexualized things. And a lot of us only see one very narrow vision of sex while our particular sexualities are either ignored or are only seen in happenstances where our tastes are fulfilled by media that has no idea it's sexual for someone.
