I don’t live there anymore, but I had to stop reading a book once which contained the line “everybody in Seattle carries an umbrella with them all the time,” which is such a bald-faced lie that I doubt the writer ever visited Seattle.

If someone said this about Vancouver, OTOH, I would be inclined to let them have it. No, we don't all carry umbrellas always. But most of us seem to have umbrellas when we need them, which is often. That's close enough for me.
