This is part of why I couldn't get into Simon or Simon/Kieran on In the Flesh. A few days after Simon meets Kieran suddenly Kieran is the most important thing in the world to him and he's willing to get rid of all his ideals for him. It was a very popular ship and heaven knows we need more canon m/m ships but I just didn't like it.

I mean, Simon genuinely thought Kieren was a religious icon, so it sort of makes sense in that situation. I couldn't get into the ship for other reasons (namely Simon seems super interested in Kieren but only because he thinks Kieren is the First Risen, and Kieren doesn't seem interested back).
