And I'm not saying you have to like them. I'm pretty neutral on Kate Hudson myself. I just don't get why having famous parents would count as points against someone in and of itself.

NAYRT but there's enough people around that you don't have to like anyone you don't find really likable, but at the same time, someone's circumstances of birth (unless they're the kind of person who lords it over everyone else) seems a stupid thing to change your threshold of 'will I like them' over.

This. And I say that as someone whose mom works at a grocery store, whose dad is on disability, and who doesn't have much in the way of upward mobility myself. I can't hold the good fortune and opportunities of others against them - not unless they're being dickish about it.

That is just so petty I can't even wrap my head around it...
What, do you go around asking random strangers what their parents financial standings are? Just so you can properly judge if you want to spit in their face?

Some people are born with more than others- it's just a fact. It doesn't mean they take it for granted, or think they've 'hit a triple' by default. It's not even like it's a matter of choice either.
Besides, at what point do you draw the line? Is it anyone with more money than you, or is there some kind of set amount you're looking for?

You don't have to like them, you can hate them for all I care, but how about you do so for who they are, and not what their parents made themselves out of...

I am not doing any of the things that you're suggesting here. I mean, what the hell, I'm talking about whether or not I'm a fan of an actor, not whether or not I spit in peoples' faces at parties, what the hell are you even talking about.

It's not their fault that they were born rich. I just don't care. There's nothing saying that my decision about whether or not to be a fan of an actor has to be related solely to things that are in their control.

Well I admit I was in a particularly bad mood the other day, but I'll stand by my intended statement all the same... (and no, I am not the one who mentioned parties, only spitting;;)

Just that I find your statement petty as hell. Because I get where you're coming from- It's just when you say something like, 'it's an incredibly high bar to clear for me to be a fan of someone whose parents were already famous actors', I don't see much interpretation there. Not to mention, again, you assuming they must act so entitled as to believe they had absolutely no advantage in becoming what they are... Just the fact that you adjust your standards on what an actors parents do, rather than judge them for who they actually are astounds me.
You said, straight up, that you held other peoples good fortune against them. Be it actors, or not, that's pretty telling in and of itself.

But you do realize that actors aren't fictional, right? They're people, just like you and me. So, yes, there is a standard that says you shouldn't judge someone on
anything but their own self worth- it's called being a decent human being. If you don't judge some stranger on the street, why should you judge strangers on film any differently.
