Escape to the Country. Helping people find their dream home in the British countryside. You get to see lots of soothing scenery and pretty cottages, while giggling at the people who want a kitchen-diner the size of mars in said cottages.

Time Team. Tony Robinson and a team of archaeologists, doing rescue digs all round the British Isles. It ended a while ago, and one of the presenters has died, but each individual episode is quietly charming and you get to learn about archaeology as well!

Haha, yes. Escape to the Country is basically House Hunters specifically for cottages. I enjoy boggling over a young couple with jobs like "teacher" afford a cottage that costs 350,000 GBP.

LOL, 90% of the people on those shows are too picky which is why they're on the show in the first place. They want an affordable, modern place, with period features, enough land for a horse and stable, but close to their jobs and their bridge club. And yeah...good luck with that! It can be good fun to watch the hosts trying to contain their irritation with the "oh it's too expensive" and the "oh it's in budget but 5 miles too far from London!" comments!

My not dark guilty pleasure shows are Hotel Inspector, 4 in a Bed and Come Dine With Me :)
