Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries

I don't know if this is exactly what you're looking for because they're more about baking/cooking and gardening, but these shows are good comfort watching to me.

The Great British Bake Off (aka the Great British Baking Show on Netflix)
Lords and Ladles (on Netflix)
Love Your Garden
Big Dreams, Small Spaces

I feel this so much.

This past weekend, I marathoned AND ENJOYED The Good Place (season 2) on Netflix. This was the first time in a long time I did a tv show marathon that didn't start to feel like homework after a couple of episodes. And Bonus! Everyone is already dead!

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society on Netflix is pretty good. It does have some sad moments, being a history drama, but it's mostly lighthearted

Father Brown--Not only is it fluffy cozy mystery period drama in a lovely setting but it's also one of the most positive and balanced portrayals of organized religion/spirituality I've ever seen--neither painting all believers as stupid/evil/terrible while at the same time not ignoring that there are some real genuine problems with the way religion is often practiced.

Queer Eye on Netflix, but bring tissues.
Planet Earth? But nature happens so like, be prepared to be sad over bunnies and stuff.
Nailed it!
Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Looking up all those "shows that will put you in a good mood!" lists is bullshit, btw, because there's stuff like "This Is Us" and I'm like "excuse??? it's sad af???????? like it's *good* but not *feel good*". Or "last week tonight", like that's not just gonna make me mad while laughing.

Paddington, and especially, Paddington 2. There are some tense moments, but they're just lovely overall.

A Royal Night Out. The (fictional) adventures of Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret on their (real) night out in London, the night of VE Day. Elizabeth finds a knight-errant of sorts and Margaret is in her element.

What are your thoughts on kids shows? Because I have recently really enjoyed Andi Mack (Disney Channel show made by the creator of Lizzie McGuire) and The Worst Witch (the Netflix version, I haven’t seen the older one.)

Call the Midwife on Netflix? That's not a dark show.

Escape to the Country. Helping people find their dream home in the British countryside. You get to see lots of soothing scenery and pretty cottages, while giggling at the people who want a kitchen-diner the size of mars in said cottages.

Time Team. Tony Robinson and a team of archaeologists, doing rescue digs all round the British Isles. It ended a while ago, and one of the presenters has died, but each individual episode is quietly charming and you get to learn about archaeology as well!

The Good Place. It's so good!!! All the feels! All the happy! Great dialog and really out-there plot. Ensemble cast that really care about each other. Nobody dies because they're already dead.

due South. I rewatched recently, and it holds up as being interesting and feel good and all the best things, including an ensemble cast and a really funny wolf. Nobody dies except in the first minute, and the Mountie comes to Chicago on the trail of his killers. So much love for this show and the fondness between the characters.

Bob's Burgers, especially if you start with Season 3. (Love the first two seasons, but they're a bit more cynical than later fare.)

if romance is up your alley, Accidentally In Love on netflix is an adorable Chinese romcom about a rich girl who runs away from an arranged marriage and goes to college in disguise, where she falls in hate-at-first-sight with a pompous idol singer. It's adorable and nobody dies (althoug tw, there is an attempted suicide, backstory death and some illness)

not sure if it's on netflix everywhere, but imma rec this: Los Simuladores (The Pretenders).

It's a 2 season show about four guys that'll solve any kind of problem - for a fee, and will do so through elaborate cons, the most ridiculous and extra the better.

What you get is basically Doctor Who without the science fiction. You never know what genre they'll tackle next, whether it is stopping a corrupt cop through a fake alien encounter, or making a guy who hits his wife think he has a murderous clone out to get him, or help a kid pass 9 tests in a day through some Impossible Mission shit.

I thought of it because it takes a serious premise and a depressing setting and manages to make it 100% optimistic, where even the worst problems can be solved with smarts and ingenuity. The ending was underwhelming, but precisely because they avoided the darkness.

It's great for a show where there's the feeling of danger without anyone being in actual danger ever. I don't think anyone dies or even gets seriously hurt in two seasons.

Detectorists.

This rather humble show gave me life. It's never dark, it's just mildly eccentric people living their lives, comedy but not brash loud comedy, slice of life - I came out of every season just so so sweetly happy.

I just watched The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell, which I found pretty charming and relaxing. There's only 6 episodes, too!

ETA: I also watched a ton of Murdoch Mysteries on hulu. Historical cop show, super fun, low key.
