not sure if it's on netflix everywhere, but imma rec this: Los Simuladores (The Pretenders).

It's a 2 season show about four guys that'll solve any kind of problem - for a fee, and will do so through elaborate cons, the most ridiculous and extra the better.

What you get is basically Doctor Who without the science fiction. You never know what genre they'll tackle next, whether it is stopping a corrupt cop through a fake alien encounter, or making a guy who hits his wife think he has a murderous clone out to get him, or help a kid pass 9 tests in a day through some Impossible Mission shit.

I thought of it because it takes a serious premise and a depressing setting and manages to make it 100% optimistic, where even the worst problems can be solved with smarts and ingenuity. The ending was underwhelming, but precisely because they avoided the darkness.

It's great for a show where there's the feeling of danger without anyone being in actual danger ever. I don't think anyone dies or even gets seriously hurt in two seasons.

Ooh, I'll keep my eyes out for it.

It sounds a lot like Leverage, which I love to bits.
