I've received comments before asking about where a fic was going, if it would contain x, y or z in the future, what was going to be the end pairing, etc. and I never had the slightest problem sharing the information. Sometimes I'll keep it vague in the comments so nobody gets an unwanted spoiler, or admit that I haven't figured it out yet if I'm undecided about how to continue the story.

Maybe it's because I have a very relaxed attitude about my own fics, but this sort of thing never bothered me at all. I kind of like it, to be honest, since it shows how invested people are in my stories.

On one occasion talking out my plans for a fanfic with a reader actually helped me solve a problem I had with the plot, so I was extremely thankful that they decided to ask me about it.

Meh, people can express excitement and appreciation for fics in much better ways than this, IMO. If you don't mind it, fine, but your attitude seems to be here that writers should feel grateful and flattered to get these kinds of "requests" and I disagree. There's a difference between discussing fic, characters, etc. and asking writers for spoilers (or worse, readers describing how they think the story should go).

I love your attitude here, anon, and I completely agree with you. :)
