I remembered there being an age difference, but I double-checked on the specific ages because it's been forever sine I've read the book or seen the movie. And you're right, in the novel, 'Maxim' de Winter is supposed to be 42 and the second Mrs. de Winter is supposed to be in her early 20s. Weirdly though, for the 1940 movie, though Joan Fontaine was the right age at 22/23 during filming, Laurence Olivier was only 32.

Thinking about it, I would like to see Michael Fassbender as Maxim and maybe someone like Lili Reinhart as the second Mrs. de Winter.
