Re: LGBT question

I'm (mostly) lesbian, as in my track record is almost exclusively women though on occasion I find a guy attractive.

I think I was really into "LGBT" stuff in my late teens, when I was figuring out my personality and trying to validate it to myself and everyone. I guess by extension that made it part of my identity.

Now I don't even like labeling myself. I don't really think about it. My romantic interests come up when they come up, they aren't anyone's business but mine. Not that I'm afraid to drop that I've dated women, but it's not a matter of sitting people down and making a big thing about 'coming out of the closet'. I find myself more alienated from the "LGBT" community these days, if someone's first personality trait is that they are LGBT I feel like chances are their personality would get on my nerves.

But I recognize how lucky I am that I face very minimal persecution. Does it help that gay people are more accepted now and their rights more recognized? I'm sure it does. If I felt like I had something to really fight for, I guess it might affect me more.
