I could care less that Mohinder is hooking up with someone. I just wish it was a character who had more too offer him and the series in general i.e. Eden.
If they had kept her on and developed her as a love interest for Mohinder, I would have been a very happy girl.

Maya is badly written, one dimensional, and an emotional mess. Is it really a smart idea for the writers to take a woman (or anyone) and drop them smack dab in the middle of a new romance after all that she went through in season 2?

Seems like a poor idea IMO.

And yes, I am a Mylar shipper and no, I am not delusional enough to think that it will ever be canon.
I am just sick of seeing the female characters in my fandom as one noted and often ridiculous.

EXACTLY - to me it seems forced, like the writers are trying to validate her as a member of the show by putting her with one of the long-standing characters. But I find it kind of irritating, as she could be *made* interesting all by herself. Why does she need a love interest? Plus, first she's exchanging saliva with Sylar just moments after he offed her brother, now Mohinder.... It gives me the creepy vibe that now her very male brother is dead, she needs another man in her life to "take care of her."

That is not the case, I dislike the character for the reasons I stated in my original comment, none of which had anything to do with her being a woman.

I can like and respect a character and still feel as if the writers on occasion but them into situations that are ridiculous.
Did I care much for most of Claire's season 2 storyline? Do I like the character, yes I do very much.

I adore Maya, so naturally I don't agree (in entirety, at least) with your criticism of her, but I do absolutely agree with this. I hate the idea of her hooking up with Mohinder for precisely those reasons. (Well, and also because I find Mohinder about as interesting as watching paint dry, but that's another topic altogether.) Given the vast amount of crap Maya went through in season two, and the fact that she's already been betrayed by one male she cared for, I don't understand why on earth the writers seem to think it's a good idea to have her getting it on with another guy already. The fact that their main motivation for it seems to be because they just want some steamy sex scenes for the adolescent male demographic makes me even more pissed off.

I guess I shouldn't completely rule out the possibility that Maya can have a romance with Mohinder and simultaneously be her own character and have a cool storyline. But given the writers' track record with romantic plotlines, my hopes are really low.

I appreciate your well-thought and intelligent comment. I am sorry if I seem harsh in my criticism of Maya. I would love to see the writers do something with her because I feel as if she hasn't had much to do thus far. It seems like a huge waste of what could be a very strong and interesting female character. Now, I for one adore Mohinder as a character and even so I am still in full agreement that rushing her into a new romance is weak on their parts.

Yet, despite everything I am trying to keep an open mind with both characters and how they will be portrayed in season 3, singular and as a couple.

I agree the show doesn't have a good track record in regards to romantic relationships.

I guess we will just have to wait and see...

I really adore you for writing this, and I completely agree. I was so excited about what it seemed like they were doing for Maya and I just feel letdown and angry with NBC.
