It's extraordinarily cheap, like I rent a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom duplex apartment for under $900/month.

pretty much everything apart from the fact that it can be a bit pricey. (SF bay area)

That's my basic feeling about living in LA. Though I live way out in the suburbs.

No need to have a car, there are a million and one things to do, and no end of job opportunities in my field.

Man, I wish I could live somewhere with great public transportation.

That is the one thing I hate about LA. You absolutely need a car. I get along without one but mostly by never going anywhere, especially at night. (Exaggerating, but just barely.) Overall I still like it though.

I like the area even if I don't like where my place is.

It's beautiful with lots of woods and hills, there's a relatively low population density so not a whole lot of traffic or crowds. Cost of living is fairly reasonable.

It's a minute a way from the buss stop to work, and within five minutes walking distance to the library, the cinema, and the place where my orchestra practices.

It's also got a spacey guestroom that's doubling as library for my part.
