I prefer the newer stuff because, tbh, I so rarely get to see people of my body type (Spinnerella) in anything, much less as a good guy.

Also they all looked like adults despite being teens in the old show. And yes, they were teens! It's creepy to me how sexualized the old version is when she was, like, 16~. Like. She looked in her twenties to thirties. I can't stand that!

Same, I was really self-conscious about my height and huge thighs at far too young an age. I also loved sparkly princess shit like Barbie and Sailor Moon (I still do), but they didn't help my self image. Seeing a pretty princess character who looked like Glimmer would have made me feel so much better.

In before "wah wah you're pathetic anyway if you need media to validate your self confidence" internet tough guys.

That last bit there drives me up a wall. You only ever hear it from people who have plenty of representation and are "default."

No, I don't need validation, but it sure as fuck helps me feel better about myself in a world intent on tearing down girls who don't fit a tiny, narrow, specific image.
