Puh-reach, OP. The overabundance of this sculpt throughout my childhood has led me to feel like any Barbie who shows her teeth is cheap and trashy. I've started making exceptions for different sculpts (I mean the Mackie sculpt isn't the end-all be-all), but the superstar sculpt on a collectible doll will make me nope right out of buying upon sight.

I think the childhood nostalgia is one of the biggest reasons why so many collectors love this sculpt. I still have my childhood barbies left (and in pretty decent condition even, because I was very strange child), so I don't feel the need to 're-collect' them.

On the subject of collectible Barbies, and what will make me nope right out on sight? The lack of articulation. Like the new YSL dolls. 150 dollars and they coudn't even throw in articulation? Yeah, no. I bought a factory head from ebay, made a wig for it and gave it an articulated fashionistas body with a matching skintone. Same with the Frida Kahlo. She sat on a wheel chair FFS, and the doll doesn't have bendable knees? Off to the ebay XD
