Honestly at this point, for me, a dead fandom is infinitely better than a nonexistent one so I'll take it.

Dead being, "lots of fanworks, but they're all years old" vs "no or nearly no fanworks whatsoever"?

I think "dead" is "there are fanworks and the remnants of message board conversations but no one is contributing" and "nonexistent" is "fanworks? What fanworks?"
