I'm not religious in any sense, but I immediately recognized the pose.

The show was made for kids, sure, but it was made by some adults with art backgrounds.

I'm sure the pose was intentional but I don't think it was used as some kind of deep symbolic message about their specifically non romantic mother / son relationship. I think they just used it because it's famous.
